People ask why I use this old chihuahua for my picture. Mommy was in the Joplin Dog Pound when I first met her. They had tried for 2 weeks to get her out of the cage she was in and put her to sleep. She jumped at their faces with her teeth out and her eyes blazing. Sooo when I went to pick up a load of dogs they asked me to take her too. Definitely NOT a placeable dog but OK. I used a broom to push her into a small cage for transport. All the way home she shouted, Let me out! I will KEEL YOU! I put her in a run by herself and did not feed her the first day. In the morning I went out with a long stick and tried to touch her head.. She bit it until it was almost matchsticks. I tried again that night. She permitted it but grudgingly so I gave her just a small handful of food. The third day I was more successful adn within minutes she had something to eat. By the end of the week I could us a glove with my fist balled up inside and she would not bite. The second week she met me at the gate and said. You may touch me. The fourth week she was calling, Hey fat lady! Where is my food! She cannot take the cold which is anything under 80 degress so i moved her to the house. That was 3 years ago . She sleeps on my head at night. She has taken on bigger dogs and lost, she has taken on new people in the house and feels they do NOT belong in HER house. She washes my face at night and tells me what a pig I am. She does her little dance and talks back when I tell her how she makes me happy. Ans she only weighs 4 pounds! So she is definitely small but mighty!
