People do NOT like to be challenged. I am NOT talking about confrontation and verbal abuse either. I mean challenged on a level that brings all of their most closely held beliefs and their most beloved traditions and practices into question. Self examination and the desire to see ourselves as we truly are does not come easy. What is easier is to just ignore what we don’t want to see or hear. What is easier is to just replace one set of traditions and practices with another. Why can’t we simply obey and start from there? We should want to remove anything that is not of YHVH and replace it with everything that IS of Him. People never grow tired of having their ears tickled, so they can feel good about themselves and what they are doing. They surround themselves with people who just reenforce what they are doing and agree with them. We should WANT to be challenged…we should SEEK correction…we should DESIRE to be stripped of those things that are NOT of YHVH. Isaiah 30:8-11 8 And go, write it before them on a tablet, and inscribe it on a scroll, that it is for a latter day, a witness forever: 9 that this is a rebellious people, lying children, children who refuse to hear the Torah of יהוה, 10 who say to the seers, “Do not see,” and to the prophets, “Do not prophesy to us what is right. Speak to us what is smooth, prophesy deceits. 11 “Turn aside from the way, swerve from the path, cause the Set-apart One of Yisra’ĕl to cease from before us.” The day IS coming when they will cry out and wish that they had challenged themselves and and pursued His Righteousness and obeyed ONLY His Word. In that day He will NOT be found and they will be left to their traditions and their practices, but in them they will find NO comfort and NO peace then… Romans 13:11-12 11 And do this, knowing the time, that it is already the hour for us to wake up from sleep, for now our deliverance is nearer than when we did believe. 12 The night is far advanced, the day has come near. So let us put off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. What are YOU holding onto? Always, seek the truth…rethink, relearn, return.
