People have been asking me what really happened why I had to - TopicsExpress

People have been asking me what really happened why I had to undergo open heart surgery for aortic valve replacement and heres what I learned from my doctors: Blood flows out of our heart and into a large blood vessel called the aorta. The aortic valve connects the heart and aorta. The aortic valve opens so blood can flow out, and then closes to keep blood from returning to the heart. In my case, my aortic valve does not close all the way because it has severe damages, thus blood leaks back into my heart. This condition is called aortic regurgitation. I first fell sick Sept 29 and was brought to the hospital on Oct 8. It was on Oct 21 when my doctors finally discovered what I was suffering and disclosed that I had to undergo open heart surgery, a procedure that finally happened on Oct 27. I stayed in the ICU for five days and in my hospital room for 11 more days. It was a tiresome journey but I am very glad and grateful that there are people who stood by me and my family. I cant wait to thank you all individually and express my deep appreciation for keeping my spirit high. Salamat guid!
