People have been asking me why Not Anymore: A Story of Revolution - TopicsExpress

People have been asking me why Not Anymore: A Story of Revolution did not make the Oscar (Academy Award) shortlist this year. The film was ineligible for Academy Award consideration because it was released on the internet prior to it winning the First Place Non-Fiction award at the USA Film Festival which would have otherwise qualified it for Academy Award consideration. The film would have had a very good chance at making the shortlist, having won nearly 90 awards so far. So why was the film released on the internet in September, 2013 if that would make it ineligible? Because the film wasnt made to win awards, it was made to be seen by people around the world to encourage international support for the Syrian Revolution. The best way to accomplish that is an internet release, not by hiding the film from the world to satisfy Academy Award requirements. Doing the best for the revolution is far more important than advancing a film career with an Academy Award nomination.
