People in Congress are speaking about two farm bills: the House bill will cut $39 billion from food stamps and the Senate bill will cut $5 billion. On top of that the stimulus package runs out in a few days and will cut $5 billion to 47 million who receive food stamp help. Half go to children while 40% who receive them work at low-paying jobs. Five billion dollars is the total spent in a year by private charity for food. Add to that a 5% reduction due to the sequester. Meanwhile haughty reps like Paul Ryan characterize them as deadbeats.
