People keep gushing over this, but it left a nasty taste in my mouth. Supposedly, this latest mega-trite effort from Banksy ruffled feathers (hur hur) cause it were Too close to real opinions. Maybe, in some quarters. But also because perhaps because its an explicit sneer at the white working classes, who, according to this are are lumpen pigeons (vermin!) while all immigrants are iridescent-plumed beauties. Reductive and patronising to both parties. Hmmm. Guaranteed to bring out the best in everyone, that. *Thats* the way to get folk embracing diversity - mock them! Belittle them! Stereotype them! Call them racist without bothering to try and understand why theyve ended up with such misguided ideas! Yay. What a renegade.
