People need to decide if they want a world where 1: Each gender is looked at equally, each with the general capacity to take equal responsibility for most tasks within a relationship (and then does their job). 2: A world where capable women with dominant personality types that want to be the shot-callers are free to lead and shoulder that weight accordingly. 3: There are clearly defined gender roles in place and we all quit our whining and play them according. We are well-versed in the ways women are restricted by the notion that nothing should please them more than deference and domestic life. We are less versed in the ways men suffer from the notion that they are either born leaders or pussies. Neither is a nuanced portrait of an actual person, but rather they are both incredibly damaging gendered types that dont allow us to be our best selves. To me, a balanced relationship calls upon a mix of all three, unfortunately, my fellow men are not the only demographic that got the game all twisted. Jezebel said it. Not me.
