People need to stop telling girls to act like a lady. (THIS IS FOR YOU MEAN MOMMY IN TARGET) 1. Its placing children into gender roles that you dont know they identify with. Maybe your little girl doesnt want to be a lady? Maybe she feels like she is an androgynous little badass and she can play like a boy, too. Let her. Dirt is good for her. 2. Gender roles are outdated and acting like a lady denotes that you want your daughter to believe, and live in, the perception that women should be mothers, and housewives, and come second to boys, who can do whatever because boys will be boys. No. Let her be a childless career astronaut if she wants. Let her denounce barbies. Let her decide how she feels about her place in the world. Be an accepting parent and raise a feminist. Let your kids explore the world without you shoulds... Raise them to see boys as their equals and friends. Girls can be fast, and smart, and funny. Girls can be brazen, and strong, and fantastic drivers... if we would all stop telling them they cant and shouldnt. /end rant
