People need to understand that Prescription Meds are a powerful substance that alters your mind and decision-making when abusing them. It usually starts from receiving a simple prescription from the doctor(Benzodiazepines). You take them long enough that you can start craving them. I became briefly addicted to Diludid when I was in the hospital for a week having gallstone surgery about 8 years ago. I could have easily been an addict today. If youre taking prescription meds for pain and you have adolescent kids, please keep them away from them because the unthinkable could happen. I didnt know how serious this addiction was until I started working as a substance abuse counselor. I see the effect it have on people thats going thru withdrawals on a daily basis. Every time I do an intake on a young man or woman, I think about how it could easily have been my daughter and its a scary feeling.
