People of the West, today I heard Labor announcing a new spate of funding for Trade Schools, and theyve designated Geelong to get one It suddenly dawned on me that Geelong is getting an awful lot of attention from both political parties, and the election hasnt even officially started yet Guess why? Geelong, South Barwon and Bellarine are all marginal seats, both political parties know they are winnable, and they know they are losable Heres just some of what Labor and Liberal have offered to that region Labor: - held their election launch in Geelong - pledges $70 million to further develop Kardinia Park - $30m for performing arts centre - $10m to build a technical school Liberal: - $5m for planning for Kardinia Park develop (more to come) - $35m for performing arts centre - funding doctors from Childrens Hospital to perform 200 operations in Geelong each year, not offered elsewhere - $106m to build a bypass around Drysdale - 2 new schools in South Geelong - pledge a train line to Avalon Airport Both parties have pledged to move the TAC head office to Geelong, bringing 550 jobs to the region Melbournes West, what are either Labor or Liberal doing for us? As little as they need to, and we make it easy for them to do it Its time we wake up the West, no more Labor/Liberal diehards, we will only matter when we become electorates that both parties can win, and that both can lose Its time to vote for those Liberal bastards come November 29
