People say we respect our lads and ladies who serve yet us typical British cannot do what other countries do more so those commonwealth countries and show those who served a mega big thank you I went to a local pub now do I expect to be have gushing oodles of you wonderful man poured down my throat god no way but surely when I asked for my pint could not those who served me say on us mate and by the way thank you. Plus why not say those who appear at the bar with out a poppy say nicely a pint mate and I see you no poppy fancy throwing a few coppers in the tin and getting one I dont mean shake the tin as we are not allowed to do that under Europe rules, but this is the difference why are we so British starchiness still it baffles me totally I seen over the years those who served standing their with tears flowing down their cheeks yet no one does a thing why you do not need to embrace them but just placing a arm or hand on theirs with a warm smile or a give them hankie with even snout on it does it matter but show them that black hole can get filled with some warmth. I witness how the Aussie go over board and Canadians plus Kiwis yet us Brits we smile and offer nothing else I used to give talks to Mothers and Kids and asked did you ask your child to go and speak to the man with a row of medals on his chest they all say no yet that man and his mates gave your child that priceless commodity freedom. Ask the most bravest of women the woman Army medic who is suffering great blackness because she could not lift the last of her casualties yet this woman had to shoot a Tablian died because one male Soldier not wrongly I hasten to add froze at the wrong time now please do tear me to bits because I wrote that that male solider has just one moment in his life which many of us would dread doing killing another human being so he will suffer to in in the next few years mentally. But does it matter if a person has one medal on or a row think some of the most bravest of the bravest were Padres now if all our church leaders were a inch like our padres then all our churches would be filled to the rafters. I thank the great god of great medical advancements yes it is truly awful to loose any limb but in days gone by it would have been their life not a limb. So when next comes take my advise if your in business run a pub own a bus company anyone see a vet and just warmly smile at them and say quietly thank you and if your past some church grave yard and you see a woman kneeling down with tears flowing down her cheeks and you find she is laying flowers for her hubby - cum son lay your own arm around her and say thank you, I think of that RAF Reservist man in his 50s who left four grown daughters he died yet these very brave daughters are now without a wonderful Dad what a price ask any Mum who saw that umbilical cord get cut then years later he own son is cut down by some low life bullet they will never stop suffering so think of at home that day knock at her door and offer a quite with her if she wants it offer that shoulder. Look around at the older men who stand there most quietly yet in their hearts is such a black void they might have also just lost their own wife who stood along him when he went off to fight not knowing will he return and if they had children how on earth will she tell them that Daddy will never ever come home. So next year set your heart on looking around you in the street in your town at remembrance day parades like this look at those roughie toughie male macho men and do not forget those women to they serve like that lady medic who world has crumbled she to needs that warm hand on hers with a warm smile plus a whisper THANK YOU
