People saying expel Progress from the Labour Party havent even bothered to try to understand the power relations in the party or what has happened to us over the last two decades. Its a bit like an unhappy worker saying we should sack the boss. As we all know, you dont sack the boss. If theyre really that bad and you want to get rid of them, you have some organising to do. You gradually undermine their authority, you conspire with other workers and plan your revenge, you ridicule their management style, become a constant irritant. Finally and most importantly, you organise yourselves collectively, to make sure the weight of numbers counts for something. It takes time, but eventually, by perseverance or just good luck, you might have the satisfaction of seeing them walk out the door before you do. So it is with Progress. Anyone looking for any short cuts, whether its in the Labour Party or elsewhere, is kidding themselves.
