People think youre crazy if you talk about things they dont understand. ~ Elvis Presley ~ The physical body it had assumed was as cold as a dead man, and unearthly strong - void of the colors of life, down to the merciless and faded prison-like garb. Bones of brass, chiseled features on its bald head, the fixed eyes of a murderer and a pulse-less millstone heart beneath. I could swear Ive seen it before on Walnut street, in broad daylight, approaching me too quickly to be human - although its now seven-foot plus frame had become more wicked and fearsome since that day five years ago. In his novel, Dracula, author Bram Stoker wrote for the dead travel fast. Did he pen from imagination entirely? Even a lie is based on the truth, or no-one would believe it. To belabor that point would quickly become a red herring, so Ill leave conjecture for another time. In the black and ash gray prison house (which Ive seen many times before), it had no need for swiftness. The ever-changing maze of it all was un-learnable. Its steady, lumbering gait would find you in due time from constantly movable passage ways at every turn. The place was dreadful - the air its self formed of soul-shattering terror. One instinctively knows that an egress does not exist. Im not certain its wise to say any more than Ive already shared (see the Elvis Presley quote at the top of this posting). Ive endeavored to keep personal emotion out of this, for obvious reasons. I know some will question the validity of what Ive said, and I might be skeptical, as well - after all, if its not perfectly described in the King James version of the Holy Bible, I tend to keep my distance from things I havent experienced for myself - and I will not so presumptuous as to quote the infallible Word of the Almighty in an attempt at validation. Scripture is far from philosophy, its the absolute Truth, so a grain of salt and some latitude is required for the following quote from William Shakespeares writings. It seems appropriate to my discourse above. There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, Than are dreamt of in your philosophy. ~ Hamlet (1.5.167-8) ~ Last thing I remember, I was Running for the door I had to find the passage back To the place I was before Relax, said the night man, We are programmed to receive. You can check-out any time you like, But you can never leave. ~ Hotel California ~
