People, this legislation is a baaaad idea. The coal companies are offering to pay TDEC to regulate their program. In 2012-13, no enforcement actions against coal mining were taken by TDEC. In the same time period, we have stopped National Coal Company from mining in TN. We have opposed 5 new mining permits and we are currently suing Office of Surface Mining and the US Fish & Wildlife Service for violating the Endangered Species Act through their mining program.
