People who knew me from way back would probably remember how school molded me to what I do now. I remember enjoying all the art classes and projects. I was entrusted doing JS prom stage designs and other school programs while I was in high school ( admittedly, very raw and rough at the edges but still appreciated) , to the very first Miss Junior Institute of Management (Miss Management would sound really awful) when I was in College. I was blessed to have worked with a fashion retail with couple du jour ,Tina and Rico Ocampo, a premier wedding and events flower shop, a high-end permanent silk flowers interior decors, events companies and set builders for abs cbn. And in all those years I have seen my sketches brought to life on stage, in television lighted and painted on, fabricated in details that has gone under the knife, slashed and edited to the core, bombed with criticisms and to use the term, pardon me - na murder, binaril at kinatay na mga ideas. But all those where for the end goal-- close to perfection. Not perfect. But close to it. Yes, mine was a childhood meant for a budding artist. I remember being gifted with my very first watercolor and book, doing stage design from old shoe boxes, made paper dolls in costumes, wrapped flashlights with yema wrappers as lighting designs, saved my allowances to buy magazines (life at the province really pushed me to research and feed my soul even more). Supported by my family and friends. And so, after graduating from college and after a cousins wedding (the start of the many cousins weddings I did), decided to pursue my dream. Met and worked with people who trusted me. The small boy from Bicol worked his way to ABS CBN for various shows, Araneta and now Mall of Asias Arena. I am writing this in the hope that someone starting to hone his craft might chance upon this message. To you who may be in doubt whether to pursue his hearts desire. Who are torn to accept his gayness and make a career out of it. I say: It is hard. People may doubt your capabilities. Use all those doubts in challenging yourself even more. IT IS A PATH FULL OF THORNS. BUT IT WILL BE WORTH IT. I am renewed. I am ready for the impossible challenges ahead. Salamat sa mga patuloy na nagtitiwala. Cheers to the next THIRTY FIVE YEARS!
