People who promote circumcising baby boys often use the phrase there are pros and cons to everything mixed in with various myths as they defend it as a parental right to have their sons cut. Ok. Ill play along. Pro and cons to routine infant FOOT removal Pros: eliminates possibility of plantar fasciitis, toenail infections, and bunions; time saved bathing with fewer body parts to clean; money saved on not having to buy socks and shoes Cons: the removal of a childs healthy, functional body part (Do I really need to list any other reason?! Shouldnt that be enough?) Do we need to come up with pros and cons to removing any other body part upon a childs birth? Earlobes? Pros and cons? Labia? Pros and cons? Eyelids? Pros and cons? When there is no absolute medical necessity for the removal of a body part, its not a parenting decision. Its a human rights violation. Doctors and others who profit from cutting healthy boys dont want us to realize this, but its true. :(
