People who’ve read my FB posts and Colorado Confluence essays over the past few years know that I analyze the human world in terms of our collective consciousness, a shared cognitive landscape, a cognitive ecosystem, in which memes compete with one another for reproductive success. I’ve always participated in that ecosystem by producing cogent arguments supporting more rational and humane social policies (and a stronger shared commitment to reason in service to humanity). My novel –the product of a lifetime of travel, study, contemplation, and obsessive development and writing (and now promotion)—distills large quantities of human history and mythology (particularly, but not exclusively, ancient Greek history and mythology), along with a particular synthesis of social, biological, and physical theories about the nature of our world and of ourselves, to cast a different kind of light on the same world, and a different kind of cognitive organism competing within it, in the form of an epic magical adventure. It’s been an explicit part of my life for over 23 years, when I immediately recognized a short vignette I wrote about Chaos and Order as the parents of the universe as the nucleus of the novel I had always dreamed of writing. Some bits and pieces of things I had written before got drawn into that vortex; and a unique and wonderful world, and a unique and wonderful story within it, sprouted up in the fertile soil of my well-informed imagination. 16 days after the publication of my new, revised electronic version, available for Kindle or any Kindle reader (which can be downloaded for free to any laptop or desktop) for just $2.99 –what to most is a fairly insignificant amount of money, for the product of a lifetime of thought and experience and contemplation and work—only 38 copies have been sold, and none in the last two days. Please, people, give this unique and wonderful packet of distilled thought and imagination and knowledge and experience a chance. Buy a copy, read it, gamble on something which offers a near certainty of valuable gain at the risk of losing almost nothing in the bargain. And if, after reading it, you find that it was indeed worth the price you paid, please encourage others to do the same. Thank you so much for giving this child of my imagination an opportunity to thrive.
