Peppermint: Properties are analgesic, antibacterial, anti-carcinogenic, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, antispasmodic, antiviral and invigorating. *Reference Guide for Essential Oils by Connie and Alan Higley 2013 Edition Peppermint is known to be a pain blocker on location. It can also be used to assist in suppressing the appetite. It’s also been known to assist women during a hot flash. Peppermint is known as a driver oil meaning that if you put oils under it with other properties it will drive that oil in deeper and enhance the effects of that oil, therefore I’ve witnessed it work wonders for those with nerve, inflammation, and bone disorders. I’ve personally used peppermint many different ways. It’s my must when it comes to a headache or migraine; I have used it alone and also over Panaway which we will talk about in a bit. I have also used it when I had a severe stomach ache after eating something that didn’t agree with me by placing a few drops on my stomach and rubbing in and then inhaling my hands. My husband uses this on his herniated discs over Panaway. I also use it as part of my regimen for carpal tunnel. I have used this successfully on my children (diluted with a carrier oil for my 4 year old and Neat (straight oil, no carrier oil) on my daughter age 8 during fevers by running a few drops down their spine. This can be known as a “hot” oil so if you have sensitive skin or are using this on a child under the age of 5 you will want to use care and dilute. As always please check your reference book when using oils on children. Oils are natural yet potent. Always use care and respect when using them on children and infants. There is a wonderful book I have “Gentle Babies” by Debra Rayburn available to use until you can get a copy from Amazon. WONDERFUL tool for pregnant women and infants and children under age 5. How have some of you used Peppermint and what were your results?
