Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters This was a so/so family flick. I - TopicsExpress

Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters This was a so/so family flick. I barely enjoyed the first one, and this sequel is definitely less than its predecessor. It is a shame though. I really like this premise of adventuring teenage children of the gods as well as the actor Logan Lerman, who plays the titular Jackson; however, this movie franchise falls flat with me. I am now reading the first installment, so I am unsure how closely this film adaptation is to the printed material. This movie is offered in 3D, but there is no need for the extra surcharge. There are maybe two or three scenes that were clearly made for the 3D affect, and would be enhanced by it; however, that is such a small fraction of the overall film, that it is not worth it. I honestly wish I had gone to see Despicable Me 2 (which I have yet to view) instead of this film. A side note: Nathan Fillion has the best line ever in this film concerning an inside joke about his old Firefly show.
