Performance tip: Specificity of training is important. Certain variables in any exercise program will result in certain outcomes. The number of sets, reps and speed of movement in which you do an exercise can have varying results. Example: Exercise - Squats No. of SETS = 4-6 No. of REPS = 3-4 SPEED = 3 secs down ( slow descent i.e building kinetic energy) = X (for explosive ascent) LOAD = light RESULT = Power Vs. No. of SETS = 4-6 No. of REPS = 4-6 SPEED=3010 -3 second descent -0 sec pause at bottom -1 sec ascent -0 sec pause at top LOAD= Heavy RESULT = Strength & Size Hope this helps some athletes. -NSFP
