Perhaps October should simply be referred to as womens month. In addition to the fun of Babywearing Week, October hosts Midwifery week, Infant Loss and Remembrance Day and Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Heavier but very important things to recognize. One in four women experience pregnancy or infant loss and one in eight develop breast cancer, yet these topics are still sometimes taboo. Fitting that we also recognize midwives this month because they are VITAL to womens health. This week thank your midwife, remember your lost little one or hug a friend as she remembers and check your breasts.
