Perhaps dog owners psychologically treat other humans as dogs then by their way of emotional connection or unemotional connection. Imagine any human who does not respond well to a dog owner would be discriminated or ignore by him/her due to the unresponsiveness, every human would be really unemotional judging from the perspective of dog owners. Moreover, based on the same psyche (consciously or subconsciously) the more I interact with humans the more I love my cat. Most humans are so cold towards me even if I am humourous, and when I approach my cat, he at least purrs to show his liking for my caressing. And on top of that, humans tend to avoid pain and seek pleasure, hence dogs are in many ways subconsciously programming us to seek people that response well to us than those who are not. Dogs are easily domesticated also due to how well they response to human rewards and obedience. Which in turn makes us seek rewards or provides them to get a desired outcome. If this is the case, why do we even need to have an education and a free will of our own. Why not just follow the Egyptians and have slavery again. Better still believing in a God-king for he will reward us handsomely. Dunno much about environmental hazards cats bring but if the report is right, then there must be a reason why cats are cats and dogs are dogs. It is said that dogs are a mans best friend. Thus I agree. I love Husky and some breeds. But I also love cats due to their grace and personality. They groom themselves without a fuss unlike dogs who cant. And it is true that the bacteria in cat litter is harmful thats why in nature cats buried their feces it is only when they are domesticated that we humans are smart enough to create the cat litter because we are foolish enough to buy them and the market is smart enough to create them. The bacteria is also reportedly very harmful for women who are pregnant. Most times cats also mind their own business but dogs bark relentlessly at anything or anyone and have fun at it. Cats only hunt for their food which includes those birds reported in this article. Because they are not favored by humans! If they are here for a reason, I think cats exist not because they are less popular but because they might have a place on earth though dogs may go heaven and not cats. I only spend on food (dry and occasional wet) for my cat. Though I know cats hate water, I trained mine from young and I shower my cat once every quarter or longer depending on how lazy I am. They look after themselves. But because I do not clear the cat litter daily, I have to shower or wipe my cat. One thing about dog owners, some do not clear their feces when walking them. And those feces can also cause bacteria. Dogs are definitely more popular but I feel cats have a place too and once we distinguished them we are also distinguishing the races before God. Whatever it is, be a responsible pet owner not a discriminating one.
