Perhaps the one most damaging aspect to a parent-and-child - TopicsExpress

Perhaps the one most damaging aspect to a parent-and-child relationship is a parents anger. We cannot expect to have and keep our childrens hearts if we are continually angry with them. Anger will destroy any relationship we hope to have with our children. We simply cannot stress enough how wrong anger is within a family and how it must not be allowed in a parents life. Scripture is strong in its condemnation of anger. Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: And be kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christs sake hath forgiven you (Ephesians 4:31-32) But now also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth (Colossians 3:8) And fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord (Ephesians 6:4) Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God (James 1:19-20) If anger, to any degree at all, is a problem in your home, we suggest you listen to Dr. S.M. Davis teaching Freedom from the Spirit of Anger He presents clear biblical insights on anger and how to overcome it. ~Steven Maxwell, excerpt from Keeping Our Childrens Hearts
