Perhaps their could be a school not based on completing needless - TopicsExpress

Perhaps their could be a school not based on completing needless busy work, or countless tests, but upon actual learning. When I analyze my educational career- as unsuccessful as it has been, I realize that that has been my primary issue. My classes have been not so concerned with me actually learning anything (with a couple of exceptions) and have been all about completing homework and tests and getting the grade and the credit, all in hopes of a piece of paper. Lately, my lifelong dream of becoming a teacher has come into question at the front of my mind. If I have no zeal for my own formal education, if I am barely squeaking by, and sometimes not even that- for the fact of shear boredom and frustration, how am I ever to be a good teacher? For it is learning that I am passionate about, not education. But then I ask myself the question- Am I the only one who feels this way? And as a teacher, would I be in any kind of position to change the way my students learn, and what it means for them to be educated? The only way to ever find the answer to continue to torture myself with mindless busy work. *sigh*
