Periodization: because smart people in lab coats said so. -Russell Berger In all seriousness: periodization has its place in training competitive CrossFit athletes. But, periodization is about breaking training into periods of emphasis. It does not necessarily imply an emphasis on a particular quality on its own. In my programming, periodization is about spending some time developing all of the qualities of competitive CrossFit independently, but concurrently, and then spending time integrating them. In the off season, were working hard on strength and endurance, and the closer we move to competition, the more united these abilities become. (Barring cases where one or the other is a glaring weakness) emphasize one at the expense of the other for ANY period of time at your peril.
