Permanent Secretary under Abacha vows to defeat Mark in 2015 A former federal permanent secretary in the ministry of Defence under Late Sani Abacha, Chief Mike Onoja has vowed to dislodge Senate President, David Mark in the forthcoming general elections. Onoja in a chat within journalists in Makurdi yesterday said that even though Mark was yet to formally declare his intention to return for the senate, it was obvious that his body language signifies he wants another tenure. He assured that nothing would stop him from contesting and winning against Mark in the next year’s election except if the outcome of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primary election turns out contrary to his expectation. The retired civil servant who contested in the 2007 PDP governorship primary election in the state dismissed insinuations that Mark had been endorsed by the party as its sole candidate. “Only the PDP primaries will stop me. The party has not endorsed Mark and nobody has given him any automatic ticket. If they do that, I will not agree because it is not democratic. The party will not rob me,” he said. Onoja explained that he took up the challenge to salvage the Idoma nation from the long unacceptable reign of Mark in the senate because the people have been yearning for a change and rotation of power from the Otukpo axis to other areas of the district. According to him, the continued stay of the senate president in the national assembly had become very embarrassing to the Idoma race as it portrayed to the outside world that there were no better persons other than Mark to represent the area.
