Permit me to get topical here but I need a breather from this stabbing news story. We dont know anything new so any continued digestion of the obscene sadness and details of horror is just self-flagellation and a borderline voyeuristic hankering. If this was your daughter or son or sister or friend, would you want a) media asking you about every emotion you are having or b) the whole country obsessing about the horrible death they suffered? At this point all that matters is why this happened and then getting this kid whatever attention/consequences are needed. Why this happened is a much more pressing thing, so we can understand these things better. Titillating ourselves with the horror of it does nothing but dose our addiction for the awful. Lets try to be proactive about this and until we know more, putting the word HORRIFIC on the front page is not that at all. Have some respect for these families and stop buying in to the sensationalism of their deaths. The medias creed is if it bleeds, it leads and this kind of reaction is why that stomach-turning statement is valid and utilized.
