Person who duped WB Girl has no relation with University : SMU Press Release It has come to our notice that some candidates seeking admission into different courses of Sikkim Manipal University (SMU), especially MBBS, MD/MS at Sikkim Manipal Institute of Medical Sciences (SMIMS), Gangtok are being duped by certain personnel who have no connection with this University. One candidate, along with her parents, came to the University complaining against such fraudulent admission by a person. The accused persons had given forged admission forms and other relevant documents to the candidate using self-designed stationery of this University, with forged signatures of some of the University authorities, and provided fake admission to this candidate in MS/OBG at SMIMS. The University convinced the parents of the candidate to lodge a formal complaint with Police regarding the fraud so that the miscreants can be nabbed and proper legal action can be taken against them. The University would like to state in no uncertain terms that we strongly condemn the incident and such criminal practices as an attempt by miscreants to malign the name and reputation of the University by fraudulent use of its name, logos, seals and signature and promising fake admission to aspiring candidates. We also condemn the use of the name of DK Jha, who is not associated with the admission section of the University and would like to clarify that no person by the name of VK Mishra is employed by us. SMU hereby warns aspirants and their parents to stay away from agents who promise to help students get a seat in courses offered by the University in exchange for money or through back-door means. Our admission procedures are absolutely fair and transparent and we follow a strict procedure, which is thoroughly monitored. The seats for all the courses offered by SMU can be secured only by merit in the qualifying examination/entrance tests. SMU has no agents or middlemen for admissions. There is no donation or capitation fee of any kind. There are no management seats as well. The University reiterates that it has appointed no such agents and students must remain away from such tricks and frauds.
