Personal Request for Help - It isnt uncommon for me to receive a call or an email asking to help with placement of a Great Dane. This week, however, the call that I received was not the standard rehoming request. Instead there was a dog severely neglected to the point of near starvation requiring emergency help. This poor baby’s condition is so extreme that the pictures are difficult to look at, and leaving him was NOT AN OPTION… I am fortunate to have friends who were willing to step in and rescue this baby, and get him into emergency care. But because his condition is so grave Im reaching out to my friends to see if anyone is willing to make a donation directly to the vet to assist with the expenses. As most of you know I am not a rescue or part of any licensed rescue organizations, but I am often asked to help in placement or vet bills and do so at my own expense. This baby, who is now named Will strictly because of his sheer will to live, will require extensive medical treatment that goes far beyond my means and abilities. A quick summary of his condition:(btw he is only a baby.. roughly 12 months old). He has been starved to the point of muscle atrophy behind his eyes causing them to be sunken in his head, has ulcers on one eye, and was so anemic that he has already required one blood transfusion. In addition he has been on constant intravenous fluids and is having to be handled with extreme care with feeding because his body initially rejected food since he has gone so long without.… He has been treated for fleas and maggots and will continue to stay in emergency 24 hour care until he has stabilized enough to go to foster. I am not hosting a fundraiser or trying to raise any funds to be paid anywhere except the vet. It is only my desire to have the bills offset directly at the vets office before final settlement is required so that I can reduce my personal exposure and exposure of those who have helped to save this baby. If you are able to give just even the smallest amount please contact the vet below and say that youre making a donation on behalf of Will Winters. Any unpaid balance at the end of his treatment will be covered by myself and by those who help save him just two nights ago. Please share far and wide… If you are able to donate or simply share, I am forever grateful!!!!! Animal Emergency & Critical care. 10213 Kingston pike. 865-693-4440
