Personal update: My parents arrived late last night from Korea! Ive been doing so well through treatments and as you can see Im determined to not allow cancer to define me! I believe in the power of positive thinking. I put out what I know I need in return. Strength, positivity, love, faith and hope. And guess where I learned to do this? Through the women and children we serve at Linking the World. Here is a truth I have learned through this journey. Compassion fosters resilience. People have graciously tried to say I am saving lives but the reality is, they are saving mine. YES. There have been MANY moments of insecurity, fear, pain and anger because what Im handling. Many negative posts that I delete right away... because Im brought back to the reminder that I will not allow anything or anyone take my God-given power away from me. The power to choose who I am, moment to moment. I am so blessed to have people in my life that I love with all my heart and that I know love me in return, unconditionally. They allow me to lean on them when I am weak, ugly or defeated and I love them even more because it allows me to turn around and share their strength and love with others. While my parents are here, I get to fulfill a few of my many dreams including- finish two more rounds of chemo and move into our permanent building in downtown for our organization. If all goes well, I will get the go-ahead to travel into the Congo and the Dominican Republic with Linking the World! Most importantly, Im going to spend this precious time showing my incredible parents how much I love and appreciate them! I kind of put them through a lot since Ive been born! Where is this all this coming from!? Im just feeling such overwhelming gratitude!
