Personality Profile:- Alhaji Abdulrazak Namdas, founder, The Viewer Newspaper, former Press Secretary to Governor Boni Haruna and running-mate to Engr. Markus Gundiri under the defunct, Action Congress of Nigeria, Adamawa State Chapter. After the 2012, gubernatorial re-run that saw the emergence of Governor Murtala Nyako as Governor, Alhaji Namdas remained stead-fast and served as the only voice of dissent in Adamawa State during which the political gladiators that featured in the just concluded general election were nowhere to be found. His party took to the court and contested the election results and went as far as the Supreme Court with no success. Undeterred by this, the young politician remained sanguine and continued to play the game of democracy from the opposition wing until the merger which saw the unification of ACN, CPC, ANPP and later, nPDP under the All Progressives Congress in the country. Governor Nyako was made the leader of the party which saw Hon Namdas working hand-in-hand with his former political rival, burying old differences and becoming partners-in-progress of the new party. Given his track record of conventional party politics and respect for due process, Hon Namdas insisted that all party members be given level playing ground to assert their rights and franchise. He argued that this is the only way that people oriented internal democracy can be achieved. And that was what was to come to pass. Hon Namdas worked tirelessly, in good faith and without malice to position the newly formed APC and this succeeded especially in his hometown, Ganye, Jada and Toungo Local Governemnt Areas. During the last State Congress, he contested for the secretary of the party but lost to Hon Abdullahi Bakari with about a 400 votes and was the first to congratulate him in what appears to be a show of sport-manship and political maturity from some one who believes in the late Ibrahim Waziris political principle of politics without bitterness . Many thought Hon Namdas Abdulrazak would decamp to the Peoples Democratic Party but his actions after the States Congress endeared him to His Excellency, Governor Murtala Hammanyero Nyako, the Chairperson of the party, Hon Binta Masi and so many other fans of the party in the state. He continued with the onerous task of building the party and calling on his supporters to remain in the party and work for its progress. Hon Namdas is a political fighter per excellence and a seasonal politician who believes in building a fortress rather than embarking on a senseless political misadventure in search for a greener pasture. I will work with the Governor (Nyako) and the leadership of the party until we capture all political offices in the state come 2015, he declared, shortly after the Congress. As APC is pose for a real democratic action with a view to confronting the challenges of 2015 general elections, it needs real time fighters and politicians with dogged-stand on party rites and principles like Hon Abdulrazak Namdas. I pray they know!
