Personally, I dont have a problem with integration. In fact, I think it can be a positive thing. When you drive through a major American city and see Chinatown, Little Italy, Korean Town, Little Latin America, etc. you are witnessing integration working, i.e. people integrating their culture into the American landscape, and prospering as a result. But, what we fail to realize is that integration is NOT what happened after the Civil Rights era with Black people. That was actually ASSIMILATION, which is the act of one culture being absorbed by another, or the act of causing one culture to resemble another through the absorption process. Blacks in America are the only cultural group that are dependent upon another culture for their survival. All other cultural groups are interdependent, meaning that they grow faster by cooperating with other cultures, but would still be able to maintain themselves independently. The issue is, a cultural group cannot become interdependent until they first become independent, which would require us to stop valuing the products and services of others over our own, and for us to start focusing on learning to provide the basic necessities of Life (food, clothing, shelter, etc) for ourselves, within our own communities. In the movie Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, one of the human characters (speaking about the apes) says something along the lines of, Do you know why theyre so powerful? Because they dont need anything from us. Until we get to that point, we will be nothing more than the dim shadow of an American culture, who cares little for our wealth, power, and well-being. ~Wize Shabazz
