Peru Adventure 8 Lake Titicaca & the Capachica Peninsula On the Capachica Peninsula the villages are clean, the people are beautifully dressed and the families offer their homes to tourists (for a small price of course). We found a beautiful house (known as Felixs house) overlooking the lake in the village of Llachon. The next morning he took us on a private boat ride to the Islas Uros (floating islands). These are literally floating (and anchored) islands made entirely of totora reeds hand made by the family that lives on them. According to the family we visited, once a week they must add a fresh layer of cut reeds to the top since they are constantly rotting below.
