Pervaiz Hoodbhoy Left Show after Alleging Ansar Abbasi & Orya Maqbool Jan:- The show ‘On the Front’ was aired from dunya TV hosted by Kamran Shahid, where three guests Pervaiz Hoodbhoy, Ansar Abbasi & Orya Maqbool Jan were invited. The topic of the debate was Malala’s book ‘I am Malala’. Kamran Shahid started to take the opinions from Orya Maqbool Jan on his recent article on Malala’s book. Orya Maqbool Jan calmly stated some of the issues for why he thought the book is highly controversial. Kamran Shahid then asked Ansar Abbasi because he also wrote on the controversial book later and asked him did he had same objections as of Orya or there were some different concerns. On that point Abbasi exclaimed he fully agreed with Jan & it was Jan’s column which moved him to study Malala’s book. However on the turn of Pervaiz Hoodbhoy, when Kamran Shahid asked him, Hoodbhoy started very aggressively and went on attacking Jan & Abbasi by saying they are “media Taliban” and liars. And he further asserted that there is no such material written on the book as proclaimed by Jan and Abbasi. This led the debate fall in repeated reiterations of blame & allegations. Jan also quoted the page references but still Hoodbhoy asserted his blame of calling them as liars. On that Ansar Abbasi took the charge, Abbasi call Hoodbhoy as ‘ignorant’ because he did not even know the content of the book according to Abbasi. Abbasi then labeled him as ‘Nang millat, Nang Deen, Nang Watan’ meaning disgrace to nation, religion & country. Abbasi & Hoodbhoy exchange heated reiterated words and finally Hoodbhoy left the show. After which Abbasi questioned that he wondered what Hoodbhoy would be teaching at prime institutions of Pakistan. It is also worthwhile to mention here that Hoodbhoy had similar tone of debates in the past as well; Hoodbhoy had debated in LUMS with Hamza Andreas Tzortzis, who is a reverted Muslim, & is a worldwide lecturer, public speaker & writer. Hamza was on his first visit to Pakistan. Hamza Andreas Tzortzis, had a widespread study and had taken part in numerous discussions with Atheists, and even reasoned with Richard Dawkins, in World Atheist Conventions. Hoodbhoy in that debate on “Religion and Rationality” became so angry that Hoodbhoy labeled Hamza as a joker, liar and hypocrite. In reply Hamza kept a very calm & positive response...
