Pet. A simple 3 letter word with a few different meanings. To pet is to stroke or caress, a pet is also a domesticated animal kept for companionship or pleasure, a person who is treated with tenderness, consideration or kindness. There is also the other meaning, the one most are kept in ignorance of, the one that thousands, no make it millions, of us are fighting. What one is that you may ask, MONEY. Yep plain and simple, money. The pet industry is the fifth largest in the world. Some of it is made by providing food, care, training, medical help, bling, transport, accessories, all of which are perceived to be good ways. Then comes the dirty ways, the sports that kill greyhounds that dont perform or horses that arent fast or become old, the websites that feed off making people hyperventilate over poor and broken animals, the puppy mills that breed for greed, the backyard breeders who breed out of ignorance and for booze money, dog fighting, the supposed charity organisations who continuously plead for money and then stockpile it, ignoring the animals they promised to help, the so called rescue groups/shelters/refuges who have exemplary marketing skills and rescue for gain and/or ego. All dirty little secrets that deserve to be brought into the open and held up for scrutiny.
