Pet Peeve: this is something I experience with 100% frequency. Some mission-minded folks come to the door (around here - usually Mormons) with pamphlets in hand. I say hello and immediately let them know that I have my own faith tradition, and that I am - in fact - the Minister of a church. These words have ZERO impact. There is absolutely no acknowledgement that this means something. The visitors just launch into their pitch about wanting to share the saving power of... whatever. I gently repeat that I understand their commitment to their work, but that I am a Minister, and already serve a congregation. Again - its as though I am moving my lips and nothing is coming out. They just carry on with their deep desire to save me. I have to say that I find this offensive. If they wish me to respect the beliefs that they have, it seems as though they might want to start by respecting mine. Perhaps its because the words, I am a Minister, make no sense coming out of a womans mouth??? Grrrrrrrrr............... Ok, back to my regularly scheduled program, Before the Doorbell Rang.
