Pet Peeves from the first 6 weeks - observations of teachers by a teacher. 1) Go to meetings. If the parent makes a point of meeting with you early in the year and confesses their childs shortcomings as a warning and you werent there, then you cant complain about her making you crazy. (FYI - talking with material mastery means shes bored.) 2) If you are going to cold bust someone, make sure you have proof first. Im a big fan of catching someone one with something they shouldnt have, especially after just reminding them of said infraction, but you cant sass someone about hiding something and then call her sassy when she (albeit dramatically) offers up her desk for inspection. 3) See the big picture. I understand there are rules, and I understand the importance of following directions, but I dont think a failing grade for writing in pen or not having the correct sized binder is a direct reflection of content comprehension or absorption. He would have made a 93 on the content... Its sad when an educator has to remind her own children that school is often not about learning material, its about playing the game. *SMH*
