Pet owners encouraged to use $50 rebate during National Spay/Neuter Awareness Month February is National Spay/Neuter Awareness Month and there is no better time to take advantage of Lake County’s Spay/Neuter Rebate Program. The county is encouraging residents to bring their pet to a veterinarian to have them spayed or neutered, then complete an application though the county that will provide up to a $50 rebate. Last August, the Lake County Board of County Commissioners approved funding for the rebate program to help residents with the costs of spaying or neutering their dogs and cats. The Lake County Spay/Neuter Rebate Program is open to pet owners who are full-time residents of Lake County. A total of $50,000 has been dedicated for the program, with funding being provided by donations and past fines collected. Rebates are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. To review the program’s eligibility guidelines, or to view frequently asked questions, visit lakecountyfl.gov/rebate. Rebate application forms can be downloaded and submitted online, or obtained at Lake County Animal Services, 28123 County Road 561, Tavares.
