Pet tip: For the love of animals, as animal rescuers we are bit, scratched, and beat up by terrified animals. What we dont stop to think about is the dangers of our own personal pets. This past weekend I was bit by a cat -through my fingernail.... I have been bitten plenty of times and have TONS of scars to prove it. This time wasnt that much different... It hurt, I cried, and then I went on about my day. Sunday night (5 hours after it happened) I decided I was in more pain than I ever had been. I finally saw a doctor after googling cat bites and convincing myself I was about to lose my hand... By this time my finger was severely infected and I required several different antibiotics and pain meds. Pain meds for a cat bite??? Yep. Pain meds! Point is, it isnt just stray cats that can cause incredible damage... Cat bites are dangerous period. Please, if you ever suffer a cat bite go to the doctor! Dont wait!
