Peter Andre to perform in Scunthorpe next year.... By Grimsby Telegraph | Posted: December 06, 2013 Pop star Peter Andre will perform in Scunthorpe next year. POPSTAR Peter Andre will be heading for the Scunthorpe stage at next years Michael White Child of the Year Awards. The English-born Australian pop icon has signed a contract to appear in the town next year, as part of his tour. Peter will be performing songs, hosting the event and lucky fans will be able to meet the star. The Child of the Year awards will take place on Saturday, August 30 and nominations are now open. Organiser Sue Maclean said she wanted Peter Andre to appear because of his life experience. She said: Peter was my choice. He has got his own children and he has looked after Katie Prices little boy with special needs. He has also suffered a recent bereavement. Because of these reasons and who he is and what he has experienced in his life – that is my thoughts on him. Peter had a successful music career, with a number of hits in the 1990s with Mysterious Girl and Flava. He rose to fame again after appearing on reality television show Im A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here and his relationship with Katie Price, aka Jordan, made headlines. Peter has appeared in a number of reality television shows on ITV, with the most recent called Peter Andre: My Life. Due to security reasons, the location of the event cannot yet be confirmed. However, ticket sales for normal seats will be available shortly. Miss Maclean also confirmed a special award would be named after the late sporting hero Steve Prescott. She said: We can also confirm that we have added an award in memory of the amazing Steve Prescott, known to all rugby fans in St Helens and Hull. Steve battled cancer and went on to raise many thousands for charity, before his passing away just several weeks ago. We expect the child that will take this award will be a child who loves sport. Miss Maclean encouraged people to get nominating. She said: It is important that people nominate children as soon as possible for the awards. This event is for our children who go above and beyond the call of duty of a child, so please put your children forward giving the reasons why you are nominating the child, the childs age and an address the nomination invite needs to be sent to. It is important that you write as much as possible about the special child you are nominating and the reason why. This will be an event to remember. We all need to recognise our special children. The closing date will be June 30 or when 100 children have been nominated. One hundred VIP tickets for the event are on sale now, priced at £100 per ticket.
