Peter and Julie learning a classic Beatles tune, and more - TopicsExpress

Peter and Julie learning a classic Beatles tune, and more importantly how to sing and play at the same time! Here are a few helpful tips: 1) First, develop muscle memory for basic chord positions, strumming patterns and transitions, this means practice, practice, practice! 2) Determine where the chord changes are located in relation to the lyrics. 3) Simplify the strumming pattern to basic whole notes, and progressively add the missing strums back in, practice whole, 1/2, 8th and 16th note strums. 4) practice each segment part by part, determining the strumming pattern and how it lines up with your lyrics. 5) practice singing along to the track. Muscle memory is the key, this is true for your guitar playing, but also for your development as a vocalist. In the best case scenario, you should be able to perform a tune completely on autopilot, using the least amount of brainpower possible. As you progress as a player, these things will come much more easily. Learning an art offers little instant-gratification, this is especially true with the guitar. Everything you have accomplished so far has come from hard work and dedication, the same will be required to realize your vast, artistic potential. Have a tremendous day. -Rob #guitar #guitarlessons #music #playguitar #philly #martinguitars #poweltonvillage #visitphilly #guitartips #beatles
