Peter commanded “Stand up: I myself also am a man!” Peter refused such adoration! (It should be noted, he did not want “worship” of any kind given to him–not even the kissing of his ring.) SOON CORNELIUS RECEIVED JESUS CHRIST AS SAVIOUR! Peter pronounced: “OF A TRUTH I PERCEIVE THAT GOD IS NO RESPECTER OF PERSONS!” (See Acts 10:34.) This was a much needed lesson for Peter to learn–and for us, too. A sad fact! James, the brother of the beloved disciple, John, had been killed at the hand of pompous Herod. That king sent sixteen soldiers to apprehend Peter. Such an imprisonment would win the king brownie points with the Jews. Meanwhile, back at John Mark’s mother’s house, a prayer meeting was being held! Christians were praying for Peter’s release! It was then, back at the jail, that a bright light shined.
