Peters Sausages and Meat Products As usual I am visiting people - TopicsExpress

Peters Sausages and Meat Products As usual I am visiting people in their houses to do electronic repair. I usually ask so how long have you been in Brevard? If they have only been here a couple to a few years they have not seen the changes to our local cities. Every now and then I get to meet some of the long time residents. Today I meet Susan Peters and find that she has recently moved here, but she seemed to have a good grasp of the area. Turns out her parents live in Melbourne and she has visited them every year and now she lives here herself! As I was doing some troubleshooting I see a flock of race car photos in the distance. I was thinking these might be from the Eau Gallie Race Track. She tells me there are from St Paul MN. These photos are special to her. I did not quite catch the specialty of these photos. She tells me of a story that it was her fathers birthday and she stopped at a store right around the corner from his house to pick up a birthday card. When she made the presentation to her father the family stopped and stared! It turns out everyone wanted to know where she got the birthday card. The photo on the birthday card is non other than her father! The family was stunned! Here is a photo of this familys father on a birthday card sold in Florida printed by a company from overseas where the photo was taken from a newspaper documenting the race. What are the odds? I had to ask as I was to busy laughing to myself about the writing on the side of the race car! Speedy Weenie! LOL! I had to ask. She begins to tell me the story that her family owned Peters Sausages and Meat Products. She takes me in to her home office and shows me some great photos! A photo of her father at work with the sausages, Abbott and Costello making promo shots for Peters Sausages, and a picture of an old factory. She was amazed that someone would be so interested in old things and history! Little did she know who she was speaking with! History? I am all ears! She was so surprised that I would be interested in her history even though it had nothing to do with Brevard County. She showed me a couple of calendars made for Peters Sausages that she found on Ebay! My favorite was the Peters Meat Products Clock. I loved all of these photos and nick nacks that she was sharing with me. She showed me an office desk. This desk was removed from her fathers factory and has been preserved all of these years! I invited Susan to join our group! I thought she would get a big kick out of seeing her parents hometown in the good old days with our pictures and our stories that we share! I am hoping she finds that we also value our precious old buildings and preserving history as much as she does! I had never heard of the Ice Racing that is held at the Winter Carnival at Lake Phelan! Anyone in this group from St Paul MN or the surrounding area? The group of photos that started the conversation.
