Petition Against An Abuse Of Office And Denial Of RightTo The Delta State Commissioner of Police, And State Director SSS. My name is Okolo Iweanya Linus, a resident of Asaba, a Deltan, and a concerned Nigerian, Here-in-after refered to as a Human Right Activist and foward this petition to you, on behalf of myself and all affected residents of Asaba. It is becoming a normal affair that each time a Political Party Aspirant is declaring his intention to contest the forth coming Governorship election in the state, residents of Asaba the state capital must be made to suffer one form of Hardship or the other. Mostly denial of access to the supposed public road, as if the road is meant for the Aspirant or his political party. You all got it wrong when you deployed your security men to the vicinity/road and denied residents free access to the popular Nnebisi road opposite the Oshimili South Arcade where mr. Godsday Orubebe publicly declared his intention to contest the state Governorship election come 2015. The pian most parents and wards incured today why trying to pick their kid/children from Regina Mundi Nursery and Primary school opposite the Arcade, the venue of the declaration cannot be quantified. As they were prevented from driving close/into the school compound to pick their kids especially those who closed by 12:30 pm. Also, the stress and pain that market women and traders at the popular Ogbe-Ogonogo market went through, cannot be measured. As drivers and traders with their heavy loads where also prevented from driving close to the market to either set-down the passengers, or their loads. As you all already know, apart from the Popular Nnebisi Road, there are few or no other road in the state capital that is healthy, that road users can access conviniently. The Rule of Law according to Prof. Dicey states equality before the law, it further explained that no man is meant to suffer unjustly, except haven committed an offence/convicted by court of competent jurisdiction. Subjecting residents to any form of pain @ the Alter of a political party Declarant is unjust, uncivilise, and illigal, on the grounds that the public road is for all, and not for an Aspirant(s). The fact that Lawyers in the State are Docile and Nonchanlant should not be an opportunity to create a market for illegality. Please when next an Aspirant is declaring his or her intent anywhere in the state, deploy your men to the venue as usual, but make sure that residents are accorded the free access to the public road which they deserved as their Right. In order not to atract a Legal action against your supposed exulted offices from the affected person(s).
