Petition: Bruno Barrillot, Champion of the victims of Nuclear Tests in French Polynesia, Needs YOUR Support In 2005, Bruno Barrillot was asked by French Polynesia’s Government to ensure the consequences of nuclear testing in French Polynesia were properly addressed. Thanks to Bruno’s action together with the veterans’ associations, the French government had to start rehabilitating the former test sites and a law was passed by the French Parliament to compensate nuclear tests victims. In 2010 Bruno was awarded the international prize “Nuclear Free Future” in New York. On 13th June 2013, the newly elected Government of French Polynesia led by Gaston Flosse – a man previously convicted of corruption and a devout supporter of French nuclear testing – dismissed Bruno Barrillot in order to silence his activities supporting truth and justice for the victims of the nuclear tests. If a large number of people show support for Bruno Barrillot and the actions of the Veterans Associations, an appeal to the French President, Francois Hollande to fulfil his pledge to put right injustice as well as health and environmental damages. English translation of the petition: Attention: Francois HOLLANDE, President of the French Republic: Dear Mr. President, We are shocked by the dismissal of Bruno Barrillot, who has been in charge of the follow-up of nuclear testing in French Polynesia. This is very prejudicial for all people affected by nuclear testing and those who support them. We are calling on you to implement the pledge you made to seek truth and justice and to do everything to redress the consequences of nuclear testing. We are calling on you for a meeting to be summoned as soon as possible at the Prime Minister’s office including representatives and advocates of civilian and military victims of nuclear testing in Sahara and French Polynesia.
