Petr Cech’s position at Chelsea has somewhat sent alarm bells - TopicsExpress

Petr Cech’s position at Chelsea has somewhat sent alarm bells ringing across Europe since the return of Thibaut Courtois to the Blues this summer, after a three year absence from West London. The Blues’ Czech international has been first choice keeper at the club for the best part of 10 years, but the newly arrived Courtois is confident he can end that spell after a more than impressive loan spell at Spanish giants Atletico Madrid. Reports today speculate that Monaco and PSG are prepared to splash out a bid on Cech, whilst Real Madrid are reportedly using the situation to hopefully sign one of the two Chelsea keepers, despite the recent arrival of Keylor Navas. London Evening Standard report that PSG could use Edinson Cavani in a deal for Petr Cech, with the Blues being linked to the striker on several occasions both this summer and last. They also report that both the Ligue 1 clubs have concerns over their first choice goalkeepers; Sirigu and Sabasic for PSG and Monaco respectively. Alternatively, a deal with Madrid could open up a move for Varane to become a Chelsea player. The young defender has sparked much interest this summer, particularly from Jose Mourinho, who coached the player at Madrid. The 32 year-old Czech keeper joined Chelsea in 2004, for a fee of £7m. Cech has made 326 appearances for the Blues, and at the beginning of 2014, the keeper broke the record of Chelsea legend, Peter Bonetti, surpassing his 208 clean sheets achieved for the club.
