PetroSA owns, operates and manages the South African Government’s commercial assets in the petroleum industry. PetroSA will suspend operations at its Mossel Bay facilities for 37 days from 22 September for a planned statutory maintenance shutdown . The maintenance shutdown will affect the Mossel Bay Gas-To-Liquids (GTL) Refinery and the offshore FA Platform. The statutory shutdown is aimed at ensuring the integrity of equipment and systems at the GTL Refinery and FA Platform. PetroSA is required by law to undergo a maintenance shutdown of facilities every four years. PetroSA therefore is lookig to appoint people for the folowing short-term contract positions is Mossel Bay to join the maintenance shutdown workforce. 1. Short Term: 16 Senior Fitter And Turners Job Purpose: Implement operating procedures to inspect, troubleshoot, manufacture/modify and maintain equipment/machinery used in the plant and provide technical support to the production area team to ensure maximum machinery availability for production. Qualification : A valid Trade Test certificate/NQF level 4 Fitter Certificate. Experience : Must be able to operate CNC Machines (Milling and Lathes), Key Siotter and Boring Mill (Horizontal and Vertical), and be physically fit. 2. Short Term: 21 Instrument Mechanics Job Purpose : Maintain, calibrate and repair instrumentation and related systems according to manufacturer and design procedures and quality requirements in order to ensure optimal availability for production. Qualification : Grade 12/N3 (Maths and Science) with a nationally recognised or SAQA accredited Learnership/ Apprenticeship OR Trade Test in Instrumentation. Experience : Minimum of 3 years experience as a Junior Instrument Mechanic in a petrochemical environment. Alternatively, be in possession of a Trade Test as an Instrument Mechanic and 5 years experience in a non- petrochemical environment. 3. Short Term: 42 Senior Valve Fitters Job Purpose : Implement operating procedures to inspect, troubleshoot, manufacture/modify and maintain valves and PSVs used in the plant and provide technical support to the production area team to ensure maximum equipment/machinery availability for production. Qualification : A valid Trade Test certificate/NQF level 4 Fitter Certificate. Experience: Must be able to operate Test Benches, PSVs, Vacuum Breakers, Ball Valves and Oxygen Valves, and able to work unsupervised. The individuals must be physically fit. 4. Short Term: 20 Forklift Driver Job Purpose: Responsible for operating a forklift to move, locate, relocate, stack, and count merchandise. The Operator is accountable for the safe and efficient operation of the vehicle and may also be required to perform Order Filler and Checker duties. Qualification : Grade 10 or NQF 1, Code B driver’s licence and a forklift licence. Experience : 1 year relevant experience All the above positions are Short Term Contract positions based in Mossel Bay and are needed for the duration of our Shutdown which will run from 22 September 2013 till 05 November 2013.
