Pheeeewww, FINALLY I get to breathe a sigh of relief. I never thought this day would ever come. I have finally concluded ALL of my teaching engagements I had committed to with University of Melbourne, following my PhD thesis submission. All teachings DONE, all students assessments and gradings DONE, marks entering DONE and submitted to the respective subject coordinators. It has been an amazing, fulfilling and learning experience for me, to be given an opportunity to deliver and facilitate knowledge transfer at University level. It was humbling to be entrusted with such a high level of responsibility of knowledge transfer to future Scientists, Doctors and Engineers even as my Doctorate degree has not been officially conferred on me by the University of Melbourne. The number 1 Institution of higher learning in Australia and number 31 in world rankings of a total of 22 123 ranked World Universities. As the impending decision awaits me upon my permanent return home in exactly 10-days, on whether to take the Industry route or Academic or BOTH (research & teaching), the teaching experience at University of Melbourne will certainly aid my decision making. On a lighter note, OF-COURSE the teaching experience was not merely about enriching my CV, no.....it also greased the palms of my hands, Im AFRICAN, Im always slightly HUNGRY, just slightly :). So there was no way I did all that work for the white people here for free! Absolutely NOT! Hahahahahahahaha!!!!! Some of my BIUST colleagues who were on training with me flew home immediately after submitting their theses. I ddnt do that, I made that sacrifice prolonging my separation from my loved ones, staying behind for 3-months to do money spinning gigs for xmas, Yeah kana we EAT xmas in Botswana! hahahahaha!!!!...I will be showing them(colleagues) my wallet soon, explaining to them who was NOT the smart African by dashing home immediately after school was finished instead of sticking around in White land to do ma-piece jobs, yet they are aware of all that hunger back home! Hahahahahahaha! Yes, NO FREEBIES for white people...they have to PAY for BLACK-efforts (Hahahahahaha). And my jaw is aching right now from all that English I had to speak non-stop, for hours, delivering knowledge to a student base that does not speak my native language and unable to point at my home country on the map of AFRICA. Adding to the learning experience for my students, by throwing in lighter moments was also not a very straight forward exercise as I had to carefully think about presentation and interpretation, there is nothing as quirky as a black woman of African descent giving LAME or STALE jokes to a strictly English speaking audience! Hahahahahahahaha!!!! Enhancing all those ridiculous stereotypes! Hahahahaha!!!! And Science subjects are already a daunting task for the students with all those calculations and formulae, u dont want to add to the awful experience with stale jokes! (Hahahahahaha!) Let me take this opportunity to wish all of my Bachelor of Science 2nd year and final year students the very best of luck as they sit for their end of semester and final examinations respectively. It has been an amazing experience and sheer privilege to be entrusted with your knowledge acquisition at University of Melbourne. (NOTE: #permission was sought from the students to post their pics on Facebook, students here understand their rights and exercise them REGULARLY, they would sue my ass for posting their pics without seeking their permission! Hahahahaha!)
