Phew! We are now one screening old... Last night we were there... and we slipped into history. The war started 15 years back and since then no one had ever seen any film/s in Mitrovica. Day before the Bridge Film Festival helped reopen the Film Centre in Mitrovica. In a heart tugging opening ceremony the president of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga declared the film festival open. And last night we were there. The theatre was fairly full and for the first time the director-producer duo of Teenkahon was on stage as we found our speeches being translated into Albanian by the festival artistic director Mr. Ben Appoloni. And finally at 5.15 (Kosovo time) the screening started. 5500 kms away, amidst Albanians and Serbians the theatre suddenly had Bengali dialogues, Tagores songs reverberating... and for the first time we had Monalisa Mukherji presents, A Little Lamb Films production of Teenkahon on the big screen. We knew we were part of history. We were in a dream. 124 minutes later we woke up to a thunderous applause.Teenkahon has just become the first Indian film to be screened in Kosovo. People hugged us, congratulated us, shook hands, discussed finer points and clicked pictures with us. From filmmakers we had suddenly become ambassadors of our country... flag bearers of everything Indian.
