Phil 4:19 “And this same God who takes care of me will supply - TopicsExpress

Phil 4:19 “And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.” God does not promise to take away the situation that creates the need, but by his grace He will supply your needs in every situation. Therefore, God did not take away the sickness Claire experienced or the need for treatment, but He gave us all the strength and endurance to not be crushed or overcome by it. If we chose to give God the control, then our circumstances will not control us. Thank you Lord for the unending gift of grace and mercy to those who seek your refuge. Sunday started off with a rbc transfusion at 7am. Her hemoglobin had dropped from 9.3 to 7.0 in a day. The transfusion perked up her energy, and helped her to feel good in the late morning. After her first round of chemo ended at noon she began to get sick again. We had to give her the same 3 nausea medications to control her sickness throughout the rest of the day and through the night. After she received her 2 peg shots (intramuscular chemo) at 5pm, Claire developed a red dotted rash on her arms and legs despite the Benadryl. Her fever was below 100F all day, but spiked to 104.2 last yesterday evening. Her body responded to the Tylenol and shortly after midnight her fever was mostly gone, and it has been normal today. They took blood cultures again and added a second IV antibiotic as a precaution incase there was an infection. Today Claire woke up from a great night of sleep and was well rested. Monday morning has been wonderful. She is not nauseas, her temperature is normal, and her rash is gone. The intense chemo is over, the steroid eye drops finished, and it seems the related illnesses are gone. Praise God. Currently Claire is taking Lestaurtinib, her study drug, orally twice a day, and receiving GCSF in a subcutaneous shot. So far all her cultures are showing no bacterial growth, if they continue to be negative one antibiotic will be stopped at 8:30 pm tonight and the second will be discontinued tomorrow night at 8:30pm. Then Claire will only be taking her oral chemo, and cell stimulating shot daily. We will be in the hospital until Claire’s immune system wipes out and recovers. Now our primary goal becomes keeping a toddler healthy and entertained in the hospital for the next 10-14 days. Col 3:13 “Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.” There are many verses in the bible like this commanding us to forgive others as Christ forgave us. Forgiveness is a free gift from the Savior that we are called pass along to others. I was thinking about this today as Claire was in an almost euphoric state after the sickness she has felt over the past 48 hours or even the last 9 months. How can my daughter be so joyful after a fever, vomiting, body aches, body rash, deep muscle shots, forced eye drops, limitations of being hooked up, and the list goes on. The answer is simple. She is very forgiving. We can learn a lot from children if we pay attention to them. “Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 18:4 Claire immediately forgives the person administering the chemo, the doctor examining her, the nurse placing the shot in her leg, the parents holding her for a procedure, but I realized it does not stop with people. My daughter also forgives the pain, sorrow, and stress due to things other than people. She does not resent the chemo for the side effects or the iv line for inhibiting her mobility. So often we hold on to the aggravation that the world creates, and we tend to let it fester because there is no direct person to forgive. This is detrimental leading to frustration and possible misplaced anger. Claire has beautifully demonstrated that forgiveness is a beautiful gift, not only to the one forgiven, but also to yourself. Sometimes the circumstances created by an imperfect and fallen world need to be forgiven as well, not to make the world a better place, but to make your life less burdened and more joyful while you live in. Life is not fair, but forgiveness is free. What a blessing! Be in prayer that chemo was effective on the cancer cells. Ask the Lord to bring her immune system to the bottom and back to recovery quickly all while protecting her precious body from sickness or infection. The Lord continues to hear our prayers and meet our needs, thank you joining us as we seek God’s strength and guidance in this journey
